The feeling is sinking in.
As we get on the road for our journey of 15000 kms from Cape to Cairo, my mind is filled with unexperienced thoughts, spiking my neurons in various unfamiliar regions of my brain, or maybe just because I’m tired after 2 days of being on the roads of the beautiful county of South Africa or maybe I just need some coffee! No, sleep is not on my mind.
The feeling of being on the road, along with the amazing team of The Great African Caravan is something that cannot be described in this facebook post, the enthusiasm and energy of the team is astounding. We move, we dance, we run, we fly, we keep pushing one roadblock after another, with faith in our mind and power in our souls, believing in each other as we #unborder the world around us in various ways than one, shifting our gears along the way.
It’s humbling. It’s frustrating. It’s life, death and everything in between.
I know i’ll not be here again, I know i will not feel the same again. I’m here, and it’s happening now.
We have been working on making this massive artwork at Rainbow Arts, Delft, Capetown along with amazing artist of The Great African Caravan, local artists of Delft and our partner organizations.
Talking about gender equality and reducing crime by art in the community.

The Great African Caravan is an epic road trip from Cape Town to Cairo which involves 12 artists from various walks of life coming together for an initiative which embarks on a journey through the length of Africa, promoting various art forms among people as a medium to attain sustainable peace. These twelve people will work in collaboration with each other for nearly three months, combining their artistic genius and craft to churn out compositions inspired by their experiences, local dialect and culture to present a platform for the local artists to showcase their craft. The road trip starts from the capital city of Cape Town and will wind its way through countries like South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Sudan and will end up in Cairo in Egypt.
This project is a creative enterprise of Art Caravan, an Indo-Swiss organization made up of artists from all over the world working closely towards facilitating a world-wide creative engagement on peace building and conflict resolution through cross-Continental Art Caravans, Global Artistic Exchange Network and International Art Summit. The Great African Caravan is their latest brainchild, to bridge borders through the medium of art and travel and project the common problems faced by people all over the world regarding gender, race, language, migration, poverty, inequality, etc.
The artists will be travelling over a distance of 15,000 kms promoting global citizenship and upholding the local talent by organizing events like theatre shows, poetry sessions, wall murals, music shows and workshops. Not only will this lead to cross-continental cultural exchange but also the showcasing of the local talents in a global platform and will, in turn, work towards imbibing the interest of various art forms in the young minds.
The Art Caravan has always been an ambassador of social change by propagating art and through their latest initiative, the Great African Caravan, they are moving a step closer towards bringing the global issues in the forefront and resolving them through peaceful and artistic dialogues.
Surely, a road trip is the essence of a place and through the Great African Caravan, the artists will not only embark upon a trip of a lifetime which spans through the heart and soul of Africa but will also help build a community of friendship and craft, a community without borders.

Choorma spoke to Brilliant Nayambi, part of Africa Unite and resident of Capetown about the zero day and water crisis in Capetown, here is what he has to say:
- Haha, It’s a lie! It’s all created by media and privileged class. The water table falls every year nothing new in that, but you see the rich are scared about letting go of their reckless usage of water, so they created this story in the media, and people lost it, and who suffers ? The poor. They have been rationing water in poorer areas of the cape, the rich still get to enjoy their privileges. I’m not saying water should not be saved, but we all need to do it. And the state should provide correct info to the people but thy are not. You should see capetown at 5 pm, everyday they clean the city roads with Water! ( Hahaha )
